Feasibility assessment of simple measuring instruments for air pollutants.

In this study, the air pollution simple measuring instruments is mainly based on the definition of article 3 “Regulations of indoor air quality inspection and measuring”. The instrument have function that can measure indoor air pollutant concentration and the value can be directly read and easy to carry. We conduct commercial air pollution simple measuring instruments (especially for formaldehyde and ozone) information collection. The content including brand, model, principle, scope of application, sampling methods, detection range, response time, accuracy, precision and others. Total of 15 formaldehyde and 17 ozone simple measuring instruments information were collected. We formulate the comparision procedure for formaldehyde and ozone simple measuring instruemtn by reference to internation standard, verification regulation, US FRM/FEM-procedures for testing performance characteristics of automated methods as well as Japan ministry of health, labour and welfare as reference. In this study, total of 12 simple measuring instruments were investigated (7 formalde and 5 ozone measuring instruments). The results shows that some of the simple measuring instrument performed well after being calibrated by the standard comparision system. These simple measuring instruments may be good for monitoring formaldehyde or ozone concentration of the indoor air. The feasibility of the air pollution simple measuring instruments management system was also evaluated by reference to the internation air pollution measuring instruments regulatory regime. First, applicants send the air pollution measuring instruments to certification body which certified by accredited certified organization for calibration/inspection at their own expense. The test data were obtained through the standard comparison system and procedures then send to committee which organized by the central competent authority for examination. Finally, the qualified simple mearuing instrument will be announced after the final review by committee.
